UNACU is the umbrella body for specialists in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, and all IT-related jobs/careers in Uganda. UNACU has been in existence for years and boasts its presence in almost all tertiaries in Uganda (including privately owned ones).
The journey of Uganda National Association for Computer Users (UNACU) began during the difficult time of the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. While schools were closed and physical interaction was limited, a few passionate ICT educators came together to help learners and communities through digital training and support. Though not yet legally registered at the time, UNACU’s team began providing online lessons, computer guidance, and cybersecurity awareness through WhatsApp, Zoom, and small in-person sessions where allowed.
What started as a voluntary community effort became the foundation of a national professional organisation, officially registered in 2023, now reaching thousands with structured programs and support.
On 18th September 2023 at 16:55, the Uganda National Association for Computer Users (UNACU) was formally registered as UNACU PROFESSIONAL ORGANISATION LIMITED with Registration No: 80034976371645. Its TIN is 1042469266 and NSSF Number: NS014403.
