World Girls in ICT Day 2026

This initiative by the Uganda National Association for Computer Users (UNACU) is focusing on bridging the gender digital divide and inspiring the next generation of female innovators, developers, and tech leaders in Uganda.

Participants engaged in hands-on computer training, mentorship sessions with industry professionals, and interactive discussions on cybersecurity, coding, and digital entrepreneurship.

Strategic Objectives

The Girls in ICT Initiative under the Uganda National Association for Computer Users (UNACU) is guided by the following strategic objectives aimed at advancing digital inclusion and innovation among young women and students:

Enhance Digital Literacy: To equip learners with foundational and advanced ICT competencies necessary for participation in the digital economy.
Promote ICT Career Pathways: To inspire and guide young people, especially girls, toward pursuing careers in Information and Communication Technology and related fields.
Bridge the Gender Digital Divide: To actively reduce inequality in access, participation, and leadership of women in science and technology sectors.
Strengthen Practical Skills Development: To provide hands-on training in real-world ICT applications including coding, cybersecurity, and digital tools.

Executive Administrator’s Message

The Executive Administrator emphasized the importance of digital skills development as a foundation for empowering young people in today’s technology-driven world. Participants were guided through essential ICT competencies including computer literacy, effective use of digital communication tools, and responsible internet practices within academic environments, preparing them to become productive and responsible digital citizens.

The forum inspired me to believe that girls can succeed in science and technology. I am now motivated to pursue ICT and innovation-related studies and build a future in technology
